Virginia Ploma Ward [1931 - 2022]

Virginia Ploma Ward, 91, of Wolfe City passed away July 30, 2022, at Focused Care of Sherman in Sherman, Texas.

Virginia was born March 15, 1931, in Traverse City, Michigan to Lelan Clarence and Bessie F. Lukavec Eckstein.

She was a long time nurses aide and a PBX operator. She was also an avid pet lover and a dog breader.

Virginia is survived by one brother, Lamar and sons Pat Painter and wife Cathy and Jimmie Painter, Jr. Daughters Toni J. White and Susanna M. Chaney along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Patty;  sisters Ciola, Kathleen Jean and Pauline and brothers Lelan, David and Milo.

A memorial service will be in South Carolina with Pat Painter officiating.

The family has requested that donations be made to the SPCA.

Maria Socorro Medina Galarza [1956 - 2022]

María Socorro Medina Galarza, de 65 años, de Wolfe City, falleció el 16 de julio de 2022 en Hunt Regional Medical Center en Greenville. Nació el 30 de octubre de 1956 en Nazareno, Durango, México de Nicolás Galarza Jiménez y Ana María Reyes Garza. Se casó con José Tereso Medina el 16 de abril de 1992 en México.

María disfrutaba caminar por la ciudad con sus nietos por las mañanas. Disfrutaba y era muy competitiva jugando La Loteria (Bingo Mexicano). Le encantaba cocinar y llevar a sus nietos al parque, al Dollar Tree y de compras.
Su artista musical favorita era Paquita, amaba a México ya sus siete hijos.

La misa fúnebre estará a cargo del padre Marcus Chidozie a las 10:00 a. m. del miércoles 20 de julio de 2022 en la iglesia católica St. Joseph en Commerce. La visita es el martes 19 de julio de 2022, de 5 a 7:00 p. m. en la capilla de la funeraria Owens en Wolfe City. El entierro seguirá al servicio en el cementerio Mt. Carmel en Wolfe City.

Maria Socorro Medina Galarza, 65, of Wolfe City, passed away July16, 2022, at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville. She was born October 30, 1956, in Nazareno, Durango, Mexico to Nicolas Galarza Jimenez and Ana Maria Reyes Garza. She married Jose Tereso Medina on April 16, 1992, in Mexico.

Maria enjoyed walking around town with her grandchildren in the mornings. She enjoyed and was very competitive playing La Loteria (Mexican Bingo). She loved cooking and taking her grandchildren to the park, the Dollar Tree and shopping.

Her favorite musical artist was Paquita, she loved Mexico and her seven children.

Service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Commerce. Visitation is Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 5 until 7:00 P.M. at Owens Funeral Home Chapel in Wolfe City. Burial will follow the service at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.

Nelda R. Morgan Tyler [1940 - 2022]

​Nelda Tyler, 82, of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 in Mansfield Nursing and Rehab Center,
​
Nelda was born February 10, 1940, in Spur to Henry Jackson and Jewel Owens Morgan (both deceased). She leaves behind one brother, James Robert Morgan of St. Paul and one sister Mary Bruckner
of Mansfield. Nelda received her GED High School Diploma and later became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Her family moved to Levelland in 1954.

While in high school she married Clinton Wade Tyler. He preceded her in death as did both of her daughters.

Nelda loved southern gospel music and often sang solo hymns at church. She was famous for her kind and sweet nature and was loved by all.

Nelda spent her last years in Mansfield Nursing and Rehab Center in Mansfield suffering from Alzheimers until July 16th when the Lord called her home and healed her.

Her children are Tanya Jo Stokes (deceased) and Toni Rae Tyler (deceased). Grandchildren are Trevor Stokes, Timothy Stokes, Tod Kizer, Stephanie Tyler, Travis Turner (deceased), John Hobbs and Daniel Hobbs, all residents of New Mexico. Great-grandchildren are Tomey Stokes, Bubba Stokes, Jonah Stokes (deceased), Jozette Stokes, all residents of New Mexico.

Service for Nelda will be Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 2:00 P. M. at Owens Funeral Home in Wolfe City.

Bob Bunch Martin I [1954 - 2022]

Bob Bunch Martin, age 68, passed away at Tyler Continuecare Hospital. He was born to Sam George and Tommie Iris Bell Martin March 4, 1954.

There will be a service at Owens Funeral Chapel at 200 S Santa Fe, Wolfe City, Tuesday July 12, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.

Bob graduated from Palestine High School, then he earned a bachelor’s degree. He worked in finance, but he was a generous man, preferring to help others in need instead of spending money on himself.

When he was not helping others, he enjoyed playing jazz music on the piano or keyboard. He also enjoyed cooking and grilling.
​

He is survived by his son, Bob Martin II and wife Nicole, two grandsons: Sam and Colton Martin, and his cousin David Martin and wife Carol. He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle Sidney Bell.
