
Mary Louise Ricketts passed away on Thursday 4/29/21 in her home in Sherman Tx. She was born October 16, 1945 to Walter Lazenby Jr. and Allyne Wiebusch Lazenby in Clovis, New Mexico. After a short stay in New Mexico her family moved to Sherman, Tx where she attended 1st grade at Jefferson Elementary School. After Mary Louise's first grade year the family moved to Commerce, Texas where her father became the pastor at the First Presbyterian Church. Mary Louise attended public schools in Commerce and graduated from high school there. She attended East Texas State College in Commerce where she earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees. During her high school and college years she worked as the church secretary at the church where her father preached. During her growing up in Commerce she was heavily influenced by the German ancestry of her mother and the loving religious commitment to help all people of her minister father. After graduation from college Mary Louise became a teacher in the Sherman School system where she taught for 28 years. In 1971 she married Jim Ricketts. During her teaching career she taught at Crutchfield Elementary, Washington Elementary, Piner Middle School and Dillingham Intermediate schools. Mary Louise loved her house, her yard, and her cars. All of which she maintained immaculately. She loved Traveling to Breckenridge, Colorado any time there was a few days available. Mary Louise wanted to help all charities and people in need as much as possible. She once broke out in tears when she saw a homeless person begging for food. She loved animals and when she saw a stray dog, she felt a need to try to get it back to its home.
Mary Louise was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Jim Ricketts, her sister Carol Lee Parrish, two nieces Emily Macnak and Christy Lee Jensen, four great nieces Angelica Macnak, Alora Macnak, Kaylee Jensen, and Abby Jensen.
There will be a memorial service for Mary Louise at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sherman 322 West Pecan on Saturday 5/22/21 @ 1:00 PM. Attendees should wear masks and practice appropriate "social distancing."
The service will also be Live streamed on UTUBE and on the Facebook page for Covenant Presbyterian Church - Sherman, Tx.
